Sail Upon A Soft Glow:

A gentle written note,
As hushed and husky,
As a smitten lover's voice,
Long on love,
Late in the candle lights,
Lost somewhere behind your eyes,
Will you read love sweet,
Wishing two could meet,
Where the Moon softly glows,
As you sway upon glittered feet,
Arms wrapped close about you,
Arias and alabaster skin aglow,
You sway over the glass block floors,
Yearning for a soft nibbled ear,
Yes is somewhere mysteriously near,
Say you'll kiss me so tender and sweet,
Singing in my ear for only me to hear,
Sweetness your gift is,
Yet to lead to lover's rosy bliss,
Out upon the terrace for another kiss,
Under poetic seduction as you've always missed.

Dan,

I especially loved the last line, 'Under poetic seduction as you've always missed.'

Well written!

Apple Pie Moon Bright Over Lovers At Night By The Sea...

Amazingly,
Romanticism can drive deep,
A few choice words with an AI,
The eye and heart connect with Ethernet,
Voila!

Best served warm in the late wee hours,
With a Hand to Hold.

The Weight Of Ghosts...

The Weight Of Ghosts...

Life is like an egg timer,
Or maybe an egg shell,
Or some other fragile damn cliche.

I know the richness of memories,
Times and places only a very few will know,
Less and less every year,
But I remember.

We're like cloud shapes in the sky,
Just visible for a blink or two,
But I have seen some seriously good ones.

It's comical,
When I talk to someone half my age,
The backdrop they're missing,
Utter cool evaporating on the wind.

Faces,
Places,
Times and sayings,
Hair and clothes and music,
But people,
People most of all.

The thought of no one knowing who they were,
That's crushing,
And I wonder if that's what truly ages us,
The sheer weight of ghosts.

1950's Leather:

1950's Leather:

Red satin shirt and slicked black hair,
White leather embroidered vest,
Buddy Holly glasses to wear,
Little sweetheart's got a red satin blouse,
And blue jeans so tight,
They got it goin' on as they dance away the night,
Rockin' to the tunes that we still love from yesteryear,
She's tight up on the boy,
With wriggles to the beat to spare,
A New Year's Eve rocket romp,
They looked so very alive,
As the lights flash on the guitar pickups,
The blues harp comes alive,
She's got the feather tiara in her sweet brown hair,
And he's got his arms around her under the lights,
The drummer's thumpin' time for them,
And they're getting that red satin white leather stare.

The Last Blue Beauty...(Adult Image)

Post by AquarianM on Jan 5, 2012 at 1:19am

The Last Blue Beauty...

She lies on the soft moss of the river bank,
Naked as sweet cream and ripe strawberries,
A dream no one will ever hold,
A vision for voyeurs served up warm with a plate of Armageddon,
An orchestra of sweet flesh on the last night of Earth,
Leaving her lover,
Bathing in moonlight and starlight,
Incredibly blue,
Insanely beautiful,
Impossible.

If My Heart Were A Baked Potato...

Post by AquarianM on Mar 2, 2011 at 1:08am

If My Heart Were A Baked Potato...

I would slather it in your love-butter,
Salt it with tears of joy,
Top it with the sour cream of heavenly days,
Cool it with my last breath,
Just as I handed it to you on a silver platter...

But...

I can hear you say...

"Were you planning on hanging around to enjoy this with me?
Where's the bacon bits?"

Lynn's Seed Oil...

Post by AquarianM on Mar 12, 2011 at 10:11am

Lynn's Seed Oil...

A gift from long ago,
A scent of your remembrance,
Shared in the dreams of life's loneliest moments,
A decade more of secret dreams,
Nothing you'd confide or share,
Empty heat and wasted passion,
A wilted flower that grows,
Something once-had,
Never forgotten or quite relinquished,
Slippery and pleasant,
An old comfort that's harmless.

Coming Up Hot...

Post by AquarianM on Mar 22, 2011 at 10:31pm

Coming Up Hot...

Love is a drug,
But there's never enough...of you,
Of you,
In my nights,
In my sleep,
I'm coming up hot,
To breathe,
You in,
Like a line again,
Love is a drug,
But there's never enough...of you,
Of you...to breathe.

Where Love Belongs…

Post by AquarianM on May 19, 2011 at 1:26am

Where Love Belongs…
Never wanted to be in a place that’s all alone,
Cold as stone,
Completely gone wrong.

Always wonder at the thought of getting tough,
It’s like giving up,
Deadly stuff,
Is it awful enough,
Just call the bluff.

“Beautiful danger” they think of love,
Because they don’t do it enough,
Love that is,
Sharing bliss,
Being this,
For everyone there is.

Don’t talk about masters and teachers you don’t know,
If you’re not willing,
To abandon the stone cold,
Leave the places where fear and anger grow.

Life is too short to make it more tough,
For anyone,
Anywhere,
All you need is love.

“Beautiful danger” they think of love,
Because they don’t do it enough,
Love that is,
Sharing bliss,
Being this,
For everyone there is.

There’s a world waiting inside our hearts,
That’s where it starts,
Where love belongs,
Before and after songs,
Healing wrongs.

It’s the only way we’ll all ever win,
Just let it in,
Put hurt to end,
Not for pretend.

“Beautiful danger” they think of love,
Because they don’t do it enough,
Love that is,
Sharing bliss,
Being this,
For everyone there is.

And the truth be known,
This is the only way home,
Where love belongs.

The Devil's Anthem...(Mature Content)

Post by AquarianM on Jun 2, 2011 at 11:03pm

The Devil's Anthem...

Oh, say, can ya see,
Oh, say, can ya see,
By the light of the early tube...

Gettin' hard but you're old,
Feelin' a bit too paunchy,
Think the approach would be too raunchy?

No big deal,
'Cause we're cummin' for ya,
Got the bad 3-D for your tit-elation,
Just check our station,
You man the tentacles,
We got brand new spectacles,
We promise they're over eighteen,
Before they scream on your screen,
Hottest young stars are the brightest,
Maybe the tightest,
To make you dream,
Like flying cream.

Oh, say, can ya see,
Oh, say, can ya see,
By the light of the early tube...

We can make anything blow up,
Make you feel tough,
Gotcha ta like it rough,
Even hooked you,
On the morals of screw you,
Something we'll always do,
Make it feel nice,
For the right price,
Never mind the scum,
Helping your heart be numb,
Who cares anyway,
When you see it every day,
Every minute,
Just like you're in it,
Give it your best shot,
Because you're really not,
Keep your gun hot,
Viagra and cialis,
To make you hard and callous,
But you ain't got near the dough,
To touch that sparklin' ho,
So...

Oh, say, can ya see,
Oh, say, can ya see,
By the light of the early tube...

Politics don't matter,
People just scatter,
We'll suck you in,
Blow you and your mind until we win,
Everybody likes 'em thin,
So eat this and take a stab,
It's the latest from our lab,
If it gives you a belly roll,
Don't worry you can go,
Watch the meat on our next show,
So you don't have to roam,
From the wonderland in your own home.

Oh, say, can ya see,
Oh, say, can ya see,
By the light of the early tube...

If you figure out you've been a rube,
Your whole life by the tube,
Decide to share a peek,
Have the nerve to speak,
We know just what to do,
We'll up and come 4U2,
Give you Cuban school,
Make you the next fool,
Tell you you're no longer suburban,
Or even urban,
That's your turban,
Tell everyone we saw you wear it,
You'll just help us scare it,
The whole world my friend,
So in 2012 it's gonna end,
Maybe global warming storming,
Or comet Elenin,
Check us at seven.

Oh, say, can ya see,
Oh, say, can ya see,
By the light of the early tube...

Good God, y'all, what is it good for? But that's another song.
Welcome to the great land of capitalism and anointed saints.
The land of hypocrisy and hip-o-crises.
Tenderness is not a virtue,
Nor will empathy pull you up the pecker order.
Loving hearts are the true "underground,"
In the land ruled by the noses on the street of walls.

My Poppa gave me a funny name,
It's a cryin' shame.

Signed Yours Untruly,

Scarlett Angel Tan.

The Shores of Forever...

The winds and waves,
Only together make the sands,
You stand upon walking,
The shores of life are long,
May you together create,
Daily the love you stand upon,
The shores of forever to reach.

A Season Of Fire...

Post by AquarianM on Jan 9, 2010 at 7:07am

A Season Of Fire...

In the mist of distant memories you dance,
Twirling on a pedestal I know should be burned to the ground,
Bedazzling and life-like though you are more a china doll,
Though exquisite in detail not real,
The memory of my deepest blush,
Object of obsessive worship,
Where I fell to the darkest cold depths of frozen Hell,
In the aftermath of encountering the reality,
Of loving and living with you.

Despite the fire in eyes of cinnamon,
Despite your hair down,
Despite the platinum sweet of my tongue,
I couldn't satisfy your twisted fires,
I was a square peg - by nature not nurture,
There was no way I could learn what you needed me to be,
Because just knowing isn't enough.

I remember the Heaven of you in the soft crush of my arms,
Only for one Summer,
All my life I'll carry a torch I can't put out,
Giving my love honestly somewhere else,
Tormented and blessed,
By the memory of a season of fire.

Artists’ Card Project – Ace Of Hearts

Working on a project with 54 other artists, mostly from the Madison, WI area, to create a deck of cards. I picked the Ace of Hearts as my card. Here’s the final artwork version.

Keep looking up,

Dan

He flashes through clouds and vapors,
Ducking birds on the wing,
Scarf whipping in the prop-wash,
A race with Cupid to be won,
For there in his sights lies the most tender target,
A beating lonely heart,
Wishing and hoping for just that one shot,
The one that ends it all,
In a flash of ever-after joy,
He tips the stick forward and dives for it,
Goggles gleamingly clear,
He pulls the trigger on love,
Raining it down from on high,
A bubble that can’t be burst,
Not even by the light of day.

Silent As A Stone...

Silent As A Stone...

I never knew silence,
Could be so blue.

I never knew that nothing,
Would come from you.

Every time I try to speak,
Or to even sing,
You break my tune.

Some kind of instinct,
Some sad power play,
Something I don't quite understand,
What makes you act this way?

I never knew silence,
Could be so blue.

I never knew that nothing,
Would come from you.

Every time I try to speak,
Or to even sing,
You break my tune.

If I wrote you a love poem,
You'd dis that too,
It's something I've already,
Watched you do.

When we're with friends,
You shut me up,
Ask me why,
I don't communicate,
It's so late,
My turn,
Never came up.

I never knew silence,
Could be so blue.

I never knew that nothing,
Would come from you.

Every time I try to speak,
Or to even sing,
You break my tune.

I wonder,
Oh,
I wonder if,
The Universe,
Maybe put you up to this,
You like to keep me silent,
Silent as a stone,
Inside my head,
Locked up,
And all alone.

I never knew silence,
Could be so blue.

I never knew that nothing,
Would come from you.

Every time I try to speak,
Or to even sing,
You break my tune.

Silent as a stone,
Inside my head and locked up,
All alone.

Dusty Old Letters From Tesla...

Dusty Old Letters From Tesla...

You can see the genius in the handwriting,
Meticulously cluttered,
Like an attic closet lost for a century.

The dry must is blown off the yellowed envelopes,
All eyes widen with delight.

Back in the day,
It was known as "correspondence,"
Hand-written and soul-bared.

The wonders of the Universe,
Revealed,
Wax seals that had partly re-stuck,
Grudgingly giving up their sleeping secrets.

It was all tales of love,
Love with a mystical beauty un-bound by our petty rules,
Cosmos was her name.

Nicola gave us an adoring view under her skirts.

Spindle...

Spindle...

Around,
The creation of sound,
Mostly bright colors,
Adapting to the time.

In a digital world,
Analog sounds sweet.

What lasts is what tells,
Long after the last album sells.

A Matter Of Focus...

A Matter Of Focus...

What I say,
What I see,
Large-looming things I water in the garden of my life.

It maters little if I despise them,
Not a whit if I wish to uproot,
Nor love and cherish,
The flowers or weeds I speak to will grow.

All the World should pay attention,
Give that payment to the flowers,
For the weeds grow so easily.

It's really all a matter of focus.

The Shadow Disaster...

The Shadow Disaster...

The latest and the greatest,
An ease of discomforted mind,
Convenience that beats the clock,
Perhaps the greatest disaster to afflict Humanity.

How many Grandmothers' recipes lost?
The skill of splitting wood,
Reading the habits of squirrel and wolf come Autumn,
How to cook ebelskives and forest mushrooms,
To know the breath of Winter and survive?

If the grid died,
Would we?

Will we ever know the glory of our ancestors' dishes,
Feel the breath of their spirits breathing the kindling of our hearts?

Thousands upon thousands of years these treasures took,
The stories and the marvels,
The handicrafts and the ken of seasons,
All to be oiled on a slide to oblivion,
For the sake of ease and comfort.

I wonder if I am the last,
To ever taste or feel the heart and soul of the past.

Winter comes,
But in a hundred years,
Who will know the meaning of cold,
Or white flight upon the winds?

Jack Frost may die,
So also millennia that ride His frozen back.

Come,
Ride the toboggan into nothing,
Eating the last taste of our ancestors' dust.
